1973年出生於美國康乃迪克州，畢業於楊百翰大學（Brigham Young University），主修英國文學。她於1994年結婚走入家庭，但並沒有因此放棄寫作的興趣，2003年她開始構思吸血鬼浪漫愛情故事，並於2005年完成《暮光之城》（TWILIGHT）。目前她與丈夫以及三個年幼的兒子住在亞歷桑那州鳳凰城。
